Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon all reported Q3 results ahead of expectations. In our chart, revenue beat rates run from 82% for Amazon to 92% for Apple.

AI and cloud remain the main drivers of revenue and profit growth. Shares rose after the results, and optimism about the 2026 outlook is building.

But a strong quarter is a look back. What comes next depends on costs, regulation and competition. Building AI and cloud capacity is expensive, and the pressure on margins can grow quickly.

That’s the difference between a good result and a durable one. The first is already in the books. The second still has to be earned.

The results show where the momentum is. The next few quarters will show how long it lasts.

    The story behind the number.
